In 2011, my husband, Raju, and I, Tara, founded Nilo Cashmere in Chandragiri, Kathmandu, Nepal — just a 20-minute drive from the beautiful Swoyambhunath temple. Both born in Gorkha, near the Manaslu region, we moved to Kathmandu for higher education, and we met, fell in love, and got married. Now, we live here with our two children, dedicating ourselves to building Nilo Cashmere on the principles of eco-friendly products and uncompromising quality.
Our philosophy
‘Small but precious’ is more than our slogan; it’s the heart of our company. We ensure our staff are treated fairly, focusing on their well-being, health, and education. Having worked as an employee for 16 years, I understand the importance of a joyful work environment. Our modern workshop respects traditional craftsmanship, fostering trust with local artisans.
Diversity and inclusion
Our team is diverse, coming from different regions, religions, and castes. We proudly reserve 50 percent of our positions for women, promoting equality and unity. Our shared vision and teamwork drive our success.
Conservation and community welfare
We maintain a symbiotic relationship with the local environment and community. Waste is recycled, and biodegradable waste is composted to cultivate fruits, flowers, and vegetables within our workshop premises. We also raise dogs, cats, and birds, creating a village farmhouse atmosphere rather than an urban workshop. Our wastewater treatment plant ensures that water used during the dyeing process is safe and environmentally friendly.
We employ local artisans and village women to promote financial inclusion. Additionally, we conduct welfare programs, including curricular and extracurricular classes, for the children of Kanchan Basti in Chandragiri, where our workshop is located.
Our products
At Nilo Cashmere, we produce and export pure cashmere products without the use of child labor. Our range includes blankets, shawls, scarves, gloves, socks, travel sets, and hats for men, women, and children. We prioritize quality and are committed to customer satisfaction. Our designs highlight layering and versatility, allowing our customers to experiment with colors and styles.
Quality and Craftsmanship
Our cashmere is sourced from the finest fleece of Himalayan goats. We use eco-friendly Sandoz dyes to ensure each product’s luxury and purity. Our dedication to quality has fueled our rapid growth, with exports to Asia, Europe, the USA, and Australia.
Global reach
Our markets include France, Japan, the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, and across Asia. Whether you are a wholesaler, distributor, or retailer, buying from us means direct access to authentic cashmere at the best prices, with no middlemen involved.
